Talua Board would like to hear expressions of interest for the position of Librarian of the Institute.
Role Purpose/Description:
The role of the Talua Librarian is to oversee all aspects of the Institute’s Library, including all physical and digital resources. The Librarian reports to the Academic Dean.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assists in ordering of new books, journals and other items for the library
- Allocates Accession Numbers and Dewey Call Numbers for all new books, before they are shelved in the library
- Ensures covering, marking, and maintenance of books.
- Managing and building the digital library database.
- Supervises the use of the library, explaining its use to the students as required.
- Supervises the borrowing of books.
- Takes scans of book chapters / sections are directed by Faculty members.
- Assists all users in online and physical research.
- Assists in other duties as directed by the Academic Dean.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualification in Library studies (highly desired)
- Experience in working in a Library (essential)
- Experience in digital library database cataloguing (for example, Bookmark, Koha, etc.) (essential)
Other skills and/or personal attributes:
- advanced fluency in both English and Bislama
- flexibility and patience
- ability to work in an interdenominational work environment
- initiative and team player mentality
- a love for Jesus and a passion for mission
- adherence to all TTTI policies, procedures and codes of conduct
Contract details:
This is for a 3 Year appointment.
Ideally, the position will be part-time, 4 days per week (28hrs per week). However, Talua Administration are open to negotiating less or more hours for the right person.
Salary package follows the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu’s Pay Scale (between 700,000vt and 1,000,000vt gross pay per annum if on full time hours), and will reflect the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
Additionally, the successful applicant will be provided:
- housing on main campus (South Santo) if desired,
- free utilities and Wi-Fi when on campus,
- ongoing Professional Development, with possible domestic and international travel.
The successful applicant will start January 13th, 2025.
