Talua Principal would like to hear expressions of interest for the position of Faculty Lecturer – English for Academic Purposes.
Role Purpose/Description:
Students at TTTI are all multilingual, and come with mixed levels of competency in English. In order to access the rich resources of the disciplines of Theology and Biblical Studies, and to be prepared to engage with the ever-increasing challenges facing pastors in Vanuatu, our students need help in improving their level of English. The English for Academic Purposes Lecturer at TTTI engages with all students, seeking to equip them with the skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking English, with a focus on developing skills for Academic Study. The role reports to the Academic Dean.
Role Responsibilities:
- Teach, Assess & Moderate in TTTI accredited academic programs as allocated by Academic Dean (about 12-16 hours per week of scheduled class time).
- Contributes to curriculum reviews as directed by the Academic Dean.
- Attends and contributes to the Faculty meetings
- Attends and participates in In-service Training as required.
- Assess English LLN levels of new applicants (currently through the TTTI English Entrance Exam).
- Undertakes any other duties as requested by the Principal and / or the Academic Dean
Qualifications & Experience:
- a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or an equivalent internationally recognised TESOL qualification OR a teaching degree or other qualification that includes teaching English AND If English is a second language, English competency at Vanuatu LLN Band 7 (CEFP levels C2).
- 5+ years industry experience (highly desired)
Other skills and/or personal attributes:
- fluency in Bislama (desired) and highly advanced English fluency (Vanuatu LLN Band 7 or equivalent, such as CEFP level C2).

Contract details:
This is for a 1 Year appointment.
The salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant. It will follow the Merit-Based Classification Salary scale adopted by TTTI (likely between 875,000vt and 1,250,000vt per annum gross pay, not including VNPF contribution, severance, etc.)
